Gymnastics Lesson 4

This week at gymnastics we learnt about trying new things and giving everyting a go. My group (Sandra, Mele, Fui, Victoria, Pua, Julian and I) were starting at circut 2. We had the beam which we had to walk backwords, walk forwards and jump up, The forward roll on the lower beam, cart wheels and forward roll off the stage onto a buch of mats. I tried everything, but didn't manage to do a proper cart wheel. Next we went on to circut 3. Circut 3 had the activites spring board forward, trampoline, backword roll. I tried all of them and completed them all. Lastly we went on to circut 1. It had these activities wall stand, swing stairs and two more activities that I forgot the name of. I found the cart wheel challenging and I had a lot of fun.

Who Am I?

Today I made a new google drawing about who am I? My who am I includes an avatar of me, my 2 favorite games, my favorite cartoon, my favorite clothing brand, my favorite fruit, my favorite meal, my favorite character from my favorite cartoon, my game console and my favorite car.
The point of this activity was to try to create a breif drscription of yourself by using images of things you like.

Sicence Investigation #2

Today Mrs Wells came back to our class to carry on with the science investigation us (Alex, Giovanni, Jack, Julian, Mele, Nyjah Fui and Victoria). Today was the day where we started the investigation. We had steps we needed to follow to have planted our plant with our items. Instead of me doing crushed candy I changed to doing crushed chocolate. I put 200 ml of soil and 20 grams of chocolate into each pot. That lead us to 400 ml of soil and 40 grams of chocolate altogether. One thing we didn't control was worms! That was unfortunaley unavalible, but maybe the worms will help the plant grow bigger and stronger. Next we got an empty plastic cup and measured 20 ml of water and put it into the empty cup. Then I marked where the water was in the cup so every Monday, Wednesday and Friday when we water our plants I can put water in the cup up to the mark that I made. Then it was time for Mrs Wells to go so we cleaned up the table. Reflection: I really enjoyed this time with Mrs Wells doing the science investigation. I can't wait for the next 2 weeks to see what will happen to everyones plants and can't wait for Mrs Wells to come back.

Stardome Trip

Lastnight Thursday my class and I went to the evening stardome show in one tree hill.  The stordome is a place where you can go to see the planets, stars, constellations and even more. We went to see the planets Jupiter and Saturn. We also went to the the stars and the constellations. When we got inside we saw some interactive thing on the way into the dome. "Woah" I said. It was so cool. We went to the back seats which are the best seats in the dome. When we sat down we looked up and saw clouds moving around. When the show started we first tried to spot the sun which we did. Then our stardome teacher Tobias went to fast forward the time to night time so we could see the stars. The first thing I saw was the milky way which is our home galaxy. Then we went back in time to see the first star that would pop up. Next we went into constellations. Tobias told us about different constellations like the Scorpion, Sagitarius, Maui's Hook and many more. We then went to Jupiter and Saturn to see what it looks like and to find out about them. An interesting fact about Jupiter is that Jupiter has 67 moons. Another interesting fact is that Saturn has rings made out of dust and ice. We then finished the evening show and went out back to the stardome to go and have a read of those interactive activities. I came across a weight machine that cheks your weight on earth compared to different planets. I also came across a gravity ball where you roll the ball around the sides of the spinner then when the ball slows donw almost stopping it goes into the middle. When we finished looking at the interactive things we said our goodbyes and thankyou's then leftv on the bus back to school to get picked up.

Information Report (Penguins)

What are Penguins?

Penguins are flightless birds that can be found in the south pole of Antarctica. Penguins can also be called a Spheniscidae which is their scientific name. Did you know that penguins can grow up to 1 Meter tall?

Penguins have all sorts of colors. One of the most colorful penguins called the Royal penguin is pretty colorful. It has the colors Yellow, Black, White and even faded bits of pink under their fins and feet. Penguins can get to the weight of 23 Kgs which is quite light.

Penguins like to eat a lot. They like to eat squid and krill. They also can eat crustacean if they find it. Penguins are carnivores (Meat Eaters).

Penguins Live in Antarctica in the south Pole. Which is a really cold place. Penguins don’t just live in Antarctica, but also Surprisingly penguins can also be found in these places. South America, New Zealand Australia and even Africa. Penguins spend 80% of their lives in the ocean, but Penguins do live only in the southern hemisphere.

Penguins are some interesting animals that thrive and survive in the cold areas of the world. Something very interesting about penguins is that most people think they are mammals because they can’t fly. This is why penguins are awesome.

Although Penguins might seem friendly and cute, they are one of the most robust animals on earth.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This weeks writing task was to create an information report about Penguins. The structure for an information report is T.I.P.S which stands for title, introduction, paragraphs and summary. Things you need to include in your information report are interesting facts, habitat, diet and appearance. One thing that I lernt new while writing about penguins is that penguins also live in africa. Something interesting I found out was that Penguins can weigh to about 23 Kg's. The one thing about penguins that I think is amazing is their ability to survive in their environment.

Respect DLO

This blog post is about a Respect DLO which shows how to show respect and what respect means. I have created this in order to collect a care respect badge which I am working hard for. This DLO is for you to check out if you don't know what Respect is? Looking after any equiptment while you are using it is one of the things you can do to show respect. I always like to show respect because if you show respect to other people then they will show respect back to you. This is created by me (Giovanni) so that I can go forward to collecting my respect badge. Respect is really important in life because if you don't show respect then no one will want to talk to you or might not show respect back to you.

Science Investigation #1

Today this morning Mrs Wells from Tamaki Collage came to our classroom to teach us about science. She taught us about how specific foods and objects can affect a plant. I am going to be doing an experiment of putting crushed candy into a plant and seeing the out come. I am going to then water my plant with crushed candy on Monday's, Wednesday's and Friday's to see what will happen for 2 weeks. This will be a fun activity to see and watch. I know this activity and science experiment will be a good experience for me.

Kiwi Can Week 3 Term 2

Image result for Kiwi can
This week at kiwi can we learnt about honesty. Honesty is when you do the right thing even when no one is looking. We had half of the class gone to scoccer so our kiwican class was pretty small. We first started the session with our energizer called bang. The game works by 5 or more people gathering in a circle and one person has to be in the middle of the circle and when that person says someones name the person with their name being called out has to duck down. Then the 2 people beside that person ducking has to batte the other person beside the person that is ducking. Next we talked about what honesty means to us and how we can show honesty. My answer to what honesty measn to us is that honesty means telling the truth to something bad you did and the answer to how we can show honesty is that I could tell the truth if I broke the window by accident. After that we had our activity which was called honesy cards. Each group of 5 or more had a card each and we read the card and the questions on it and we answerd the questions to the text that was on the card. For an example on of our questions were If the elephant didn't step on the homework and he was liying to the teacher how could he tell the truth? Lastly we had our points. I forgot how many points we got, but I know for sure that we got something in the 30s out of 50 which was a little bit dissapointing, but we had fun and enjoyed this session at kiwi can.

Kiwi Sport (Gymnastics) Week 3

L.I to learn how to do multiple activities using your body
This week at Gymnastics we had fun taking part in these activities: Forward roll, Backward roll, Cart wheels, Beam balancing, Building strength and Bouncing. All those activities were set in circuits. Circuit 1 was: Building strength. Circuit 2 was: Beam balance, Cart wheels and Forward rolls. The last Circuit (Circuit 3) had: Spring board, Bouncing, Hand stand and Backward rolls. We were set into rotation groups so we don't get mixed up and confused. Our group first started at Circut 2. I tried all the activites on circuit 2 and the goal was to try every activity on every circuit if you can. Then we moved on to circuit 3 where I found my favorite actvitiy which was the bouncing. I did try every activity on this circuit. Lastly we moved on to circuit 2 our last set of activities. I wasn't able to try every activity sadly. I didn't bother going on the stairs activity because I knew I wouldn't be able to even complete it. This week I really enjoyed doing Gymnastics because this time I found more than 2 activities that I really liked and wish were there the whole time.

First Up Summarising DLO

L.I to create a summary about First up.
First me and Joel wrote 20 interesting words about the text. Then we went on to the 6 most important words. Next we wrote a summary out of those 6 most important words. Our summary was:
Yuri Gagarin took off in Vostok 1 in 1961. He was the first cosmonaut to be launched into space. He orbited earth for 108 minutes before landing back on earth.
The text first up is about a man named Yuri Gagarin who was the first cosmonaut who went into space. Something I found interesting is that Yuri Gagarin was in space for only 108 minutes. Something I learnt new was that Yuri Gagarin was the first person to ever leave earth.

Kiwi Can Term 2 Week 2

This term at kiwi can we are learning about Integrity. Integrity is doing the right thing even if no one is looking. An example of showing Integrity is telling the truth when you make a mistake or break something or do anything wrong. I learnt something new about when you lie which is not telling the truth, the problem gets worse which can invole you getting in more trouble or even the police.

This photo of my groups role play shows why it is important to have Integrity. My group is doing a role play of finding a lost wallet and then trying to find the owner of the wallet and returning it. By being honest and showing Integrity people can trust you and rely on you which people will see you as a good person.

Space Race (Main Ideas)

L.I to create a DLO showing the Main Ideas in order from Main - Important - Vital
Today Me and Jayden created a DLO on the main ideas of a school journal book we read called Space Race. It is about satellites. The first ever satellite to launch into space was the Sputnik 1 made by the Russians. One of The 3 Vital Ideas about space race are that a satellite is an artificial body placed on the outside of earth with watches over the planet and reports back information about whats happening like the waether report or the oceans polution. This activity was pretty easy and I learnt a lot from one school journal book Space Race.
