A shoe's life

Today our class made a story about a shoes life. I was working with Matthew for this activity. We had to sit back to back on the floor. We have a lot of writing about this story. We used Personifacation and the 5 senses to help us in the making of the story. Then we made a story about a shoes life like how the feet might smell. This is our story that we wrote:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I can't believe I have to do this again. It’s going to be a hard day. I don’t want to have to smell the odor from my owners socks, as he walks for 5 hours. EWWWW! Gross I can taste the sweat dripping from inside his socks. Oh well, I hope I get replaced some day. I see the dairy. OOH, is that chocolate I can smell, yum. Finally I can see home, I get to relax before another hard days of work. Oh no. I can see I pile of wet mud on the ground. NOO! I hate this so much. We get inside, I SCREAM! “go in the direction of the washing machine,”as he slowly walked. YEAH! I can now have a nice shower. I hope this doesn’t happen again? But, if it does, ill run away.

Horrible Histories DLO

For the last 2 - 1 weeks we were focusing on the past. We read a book from horrible histories and it was about Henry VIII and Terrible Tudors. We were to read the book, write down some words, make a summary then create a DLO talking about what we learnt about. We created a simple DLO to show what our book was about. Then we created a kahoot which is a quiz game, to test the skills of the students in our classroom to see if they can get the right answer. Our quiz had 10 questions. When we presented to our class we showed them our introduction and then did our quiz. It was really fun because I got to make a quiz and I learnt a lot about this book.

Maths Transformation

Today we learnt about maths Transformation. We created a DLO showing a shape made of 3 shapes. What we had with our shape was reflection, rotation, enlargement, symmetry and translation. We did these with our shape to get used to them so that we are fimiliar with them. This was a fun DLO because i got to make something out of 3 shapes, and because I got to learn new maths words.

Foodprint

Image result for foodprint

Yestarday Mr Ogilvie (a teacher in our school) had his friend come in to talk about how she started her courier. Her name is Michal Garvey. She has started a company called foodprint. She has been spending 2 years planning and has only been open for 6 months. The app is about shops sending food that they don't want instead of wasting it. Then the app foodprint sells the items or food for half price so it doesn't go to waste. Bread has been wasted about 1/3 every year. 250 cafes supply the food to meet customer demand. She had a connection in not wastng food. This was a great opportunity for us because it will help us later on with our market day.

Tennis Week 4

Today for tennis we were practicing our volley wit our rackets. A volley is when you lean forward and slightly hit the racket so that the ball gently goes to the other side of the net. I compared the difference from me to the profesional tennis player. There was 4 differences in this comparing. The racket, body, legs and arms. I was almost the same as the professional tennis player. On the day we also practiced our volley hitting and trying to keep vollying. This week was fun and next week we are going to be practicing serving.

Panmure Bridge School Collage

Today I created this DLO that shows the life at PBS (Panmure Bridge School). This shows photos of what we are doing at PBS. Matthew and I worked together on this activity. All these photos are from special events and at school. I am doing this blog post for a respect badge. This is why I like to come to PBS.

Respected Leader DLO

Today I created a DLO about respected leaders. A respected leader is a person that is looked up to or respected by a lot of people or mainly more than one person. An example of a respected leader is Moon Jae-in or Jacinda Ardern. They are both respected leaders by lots of people because they are people that are respected by peolpe in the country. I created this DLO for the respect care award.

Wasp Life Cycle

This week for reading we created a DLO showing the life cycle of a wasp. It starts off with the queen wasp laying eggs, then the eggs turn into larvael, then the larvae turn into pupae, then into a drone, queen wasp or a worker wasp. We were going to make an animation, but it was too hard so we changed it to a DLO.

Current events

New Zealand News Articles

Each day, newspaper editors make desisions everyday about which current event stories they will run.  We explored that different types of current events that are happening in NZ, thought about why the story made the news and plotted the location on a google map. We were creating a Map DLO that shows differet types of Articles that happend in New Zealand. The types of articles we were to find were Timeliness, Relevance, Magnitude, Unexpectedness, Impact, Reference to someone iportant or famous, Oddity, Conflict, Reference to something negative, Continuity, Emotions and Progress. The most shocking one I found was the measles outbreak with more that 1,000 people affected. My Group (Matthew, Karlos and I) found 7 news articles that took place in New Zealand. The most unusual one I found was that Russia Accidently replaced New Zealand With Japan on their news channel. Our Task was to find current events that were happening or that happened in New Zealand so that we could grow our knowledge about what has been happening or what has happened in New Zealand.

Market Day Maths Game

Today for maths we played a market day maths game. It was about income, balance, discounts, profits and practicing for our market day. We spent $115 on renting to sell on the market day game. Matthew and I were partners for this activity. I made $121 and Matthew made $77. I had a $6 profit and Matthew had a negitave $38 profit. I would say I gave away 5 discounts, but still made enough money to make a profit. The purpose of this activity is to practice our market skills so we know how everything works when it comes to selling on market days.

Firework Safety

Today Karlos, Matthew and I went to room 3 to present our presentation about firework safety. We had 6 instructions to stay safe during guy fawkes night. We had images of what we were talking about. We were doing this so that the juniours can understand why it is important to be safe near fireworks. It's good to be a role modle for younger chindren.

Guy Fawkes DLO

For term 4 week 4 we started to learn about Guy Fawkes things that he did, like how he tried to kill James the first unfortunately he failed and got executed and died in 1606. We made a presentation which conflicted on what we were learning about. The thing that I liked about this activity was that I could work with a friend that had the same thinking as me.

The Real Coast Of Owning A Dog DLO

This week for maths we created a DLO about the real coast of owning a dog. We first chose a dog (Boarder Collie). Then we were to figure out the price of the setup of the dogs life, how much the food coasts for each year, the registration and all the other things you will need to keep a dog. Our total coast for our dog Tanjiro's life time in NZD is $44.027.79. It's total life time is 17 years and we chose to have a male dog. I had fun doing this activity because it involved money and dogs.

Need / Want DLO

This week for inquiry we made a DLO about need / want. A need is something you require to survive and want is something you can survive without. I created a slide that tells us how a need or want that I have, been met through a product or service. A product is an item that you can pick up or buy. A service is like paying someone to mow the lawns for you and paying them back. An example of a want is a triple burger and an example of a need is water. An example of a product is a bottle of soap. The difference between a product and a service is that you can pick up a product and a service is paying someone for something you can't buy at a supermarket or a shop.

Tech Robotics WK3 T4

This week at Tech for Robotics, we were coding our Mbot's to go in an eight figure, circle and the shape of our entails. Our goal was to complete at least the circle. I completed the eight figure, circle and the enetials. There are 3 videos of my mbot going in the shape of a circle, eight figure and the entails. On Week 8 we are going to code drones to fly from one destination to another. I enjoyed this robotic tech session and can't wait for next weeks one.
